About
I have been fascinated by reptiles and amphibians ever since I was young. I would sit for hours in front of my tanks full of lizards and frogs and turtles and just watch them move and eat and sleep. My passion has become my career. Today I am a neuroethologist and have the privilege of traveling to wonderful places and watching lizards and (more recently) fish. Core to my love of science is my passion for engaging others with science through teaching and science outreach.

I am an neuroethologist building a research program factors contributing to the evolution of cognitive mechanisms mediating interactions between ectothermic vertebrates and variable environments they inhabit in nature. I am currently leading projects with Dr. Ryan Wong exploring how the valence of reinforcement (e.g., positive, negative) affects learning and its neuromolecular mechanisms in zebrafish (Danio rerio) with alternative stress coping styles (e.g., proactive, reactive). I have a strong background in evidence based teaching and engaging diverse audiences with science. Complementary to both my research and teaching is a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM. You can find a link to my CV in the header and my contact information below.
